Aztec Lore

Blog on Aztec culture and general questions.

        Welcome to Acoyauh.
This page is meant to be a source of information about the pre-Hispanic cultures of old Mexico, mainly the Aztecs. We mean to cover their history and some insights about it. To understand the Aztec culture, we must include their religious beliefs, deities and mysticism along with the cultural and artistic aspects of it.
We will have an overview of other cultures of ancient Mexico, with cultural, territorial and chronological relationships.
Finally, we will cover the aspects of pre-Hispanic culture that still survive in modern Mexico.

Acoyauh is a Nahuatl (Aztec) word that means 'To look beyond'. We're a group of archaeologists, students and guides that simply love our histrory, and wanted to share it with you. True to our name, we research pre-Hispanic cultures, colonial history and visit historical places, organize trips and expeditions to every town, archaeological site, cave, mountain, canyon or jungle in Mexico. We want to see; we want to know. Do you?

NEWS: The acoyauh.org server is now up and running, but not all links and documents have been migrated. Sorry for all the broken links you've been seeing lately; hopefully we already fixed most of it. We still keep most of the page's content and documents on this site, so feel free to browse around.
We have put the work on the Aztec Writing pages on hold, due to the great amount of requests that we have received to finish The Other Side Of History. So we are now quickly releasing more chapters of the natives' testimonies of the conquest. After finishing this, we will release as soon as possible the Aztec Calendar and the War And Warriors pages, also in aswer of your requests. Please be patient, since this involves researching and translating HUGE ammounts of information.
